WAKARUSA - A Syracuse man died early Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Wakarusa.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff's Department report, Charles Searfoss, 73, of East CR 1300N, Syracuse, suffered massive internal injuries in the 4:54 a.m. accident on Ind. 19, south of Elkhart CR 42, one mile south of Wakarusa. Searfoss was pronounced dead at Elkhart General Hospital.
Searfoss was southbound on Ind. 19 when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle traveled left of center and off the east side of the roadway, where it struck a large tree.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
