PIERCETON - One man was killed in a one-car Sunday accident near Pierceton. Alcohol and drugs are believed to be factors in the accident, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department press release.

Robert Ryan Yeazel, 20, of Pierceton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:37 p.m. accident on CR 450E, 1,500 feet north of CR 100S.

Police have not yet determined who was driving the car that went off the eastern edge of the roadway and rolled over several times. Yeazel was ejected from the vehicle. The other occupant of the car, Brian G. Smith, 22, of Pierceton, was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, for minor injuries and later released, police said.

There were patches of ice on the roadway at the location of the accident and snow also was blowing across the roadway there, according to the press release.

The accident remains under investigation, with technicians from Indiana State Police expected to examine the vehicle to determine which of the men was driving, said Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine.

Assisting at the scene of the accident were personnel from Pierceton police and fire departments, ISP, Pierceton and Multi-Township emergency medical services and the Kosciusko County Coroner's Office.
