PACKERTON - A Claypool woman died this morning when the car she was driving landed upside down in a mucky water-filled ditch.
Tammy Hall, whose 23rd birthday was today, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Packerton Road, north of CR 550S. Her car was found by her parents, who followed her route when she failed to report to work at Warsaw Coil this morning.
Hall's sister also works at the business and called home after Hall didn't show up between 6 and 6:30 a.m., as expected. Her car was found about 8 a.m.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine, Hall was northbound on Packerton Road when she swerved off the right side of the road for an unknown reason. The vehicle rolled onto its top and ended up in a small creek-like waterway.
Rovenstine said markings on the roadway indicate Hall definitely swerved to avoid something - possibly an animal - on the road. Unless there is a witness that hasn't come forward, though, officials may never know why Hall's vehicle went off the road.
