A North Manchester man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a one-car crash this morning that left him seriously injured.
Robert E. Trowbridge, 51, was traveling north on Wayne Street in North Manchester near Third Street around 1:15 this morning. According to police reports, his car ran off the west side of the road, striking a sign and a large tree.
Trowbridge was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne by the Samaritan Helicopter. He is listed in stable condition and was being moved out of intensive care late this morning.
Police said a blood test after the accident found Trowbridge had a .39 percent alcohol level, almost 4 times the legal limit.
Trowbridge was charged by police with driving under the influence of liquor and driving with a suspended driver's license.
North Manchester Police and Wabash County Sheriff's Office are continuing the investigation.
