Posted

A Claypool man was killed Friday afternoon when he was thrown out of his rolling vehicle at the intersection of Ind. 25 and CR 100S, near Warsaw.

David Crawford, 33, of 5328 W. Bass Drive, died at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, from internal injuries.

Police received the call of the accident at 2:15 p.m. According to police reports, Crawford was driving his car south on Ind. 25 when he left the roadway north of CR 100S and lost control of the car.

The car apparently traveled across Ind. 25, striking a ditch bank. The impact caused the vehicle to become airborne and roll over six to nine times through a field before coming to rest.

Police reported Crawford was ejected through the roof of his car that came loose while it was rolling.

Crawford was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital then airlifted to Parkview by Samaritan Heliocopter. He was pronounced dead shortly before 6 p.m.

Police estimate the vehicle traveled approximately 350-400 feet while it was rolling.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department handled the accident investigation. The Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw Fire Department, and Multi-Township EMS assisted at the scene.
