Higgins' car then collided with a westbound 2008 International truck owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad. The driver of the truck, Martin E. Clement, 59, of Genoa, Ohio, and his passenger, Jerry E. Myers, 58, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, were not injured in the crash. Both Clement and Myers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
It took about four hours for emergency crews to separate the vehicles and clear debris from the road.
