A 43-year-old Pierceton man is dead after a head-on collision Monday night.

At 4:24 p.m. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Warsaw Police Department and Lutheran EMS responded to a crash on CR 175E, north of CR 75N.

Upon arrival, heavy front-end damage to both vehicles was observed. Preliminary results of the investigation, conducted by the Kosciusko County Fatal Team, indicated that a 1998 Saturn, driven by Redid Velazquez, was traveling southbound on CR 175E. The Saturn crossed the center line of the road, into the path of a northbound 2018 Kia Optima, driven by Sheena Norris, 36, Warsaw.

Norris was transported to the hospital by Lutheran EMS. Velazquez was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

According to a KCSO press release, officials attempted throughout the evening and into the morning hours of Tuesday to locate Velazquez’s next of kin, but were unsuccessful. By Tuesday afternoon, police found family of Velazquez’s who reside in Mexico.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Fatal Team.
