BREMEN - A 32-year-old Nappanee woman died Monday after her vehicle crossed the center line of Ind. 331 with her two children inside.

At 4:21 p.m. Monday, Marshall County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call of a collision between a car and semi at the intersection of Ind. 331 and 5th Road, Bremen.

According to police, Heather S. Mattern, 32, Nappanee, was northbound on Ind. 331 when her vehicle crossed the center line.

A semi headed southbound, driven by Chazman Scherer, 27, Etna Green, saw Mattern's vehicle cross the center line and drove off the west side of the road to avoid the vehicle.

Mattern's vehicle struck the semi's axles, spun around and came to rest in the northbound lanes of Ind. 331.

Mattern's two children who were in the vehicle, suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from Bremen Hospital Monday.

Mattern was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
