One of the newest subdivisions going up in Kosciusko County will be called the Hawthorne Subdivision.
Wednesday, the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission approved the preliminary plat for the residential development on 61.60 acres. The property, to be developed by MNS Land Development, is on the southeast corner of CR 450N and 250E, north of EMS C28 Lane in Plain Township.
The developers plan 75 lots, with lots averaging 30,000 square feet per lot. Homes may average 1,400 square feet.
The only letter of remonstration against the final plat was from Peggy Ciula, who opposed any development of the property.
Julie Robinson's petition to rezone 7.2 acres from an agricultural to a commercial district will be recommended for approval to the Kosciusko County Commissioners. On rezonings, the plan commission is only a recommending board to the commissioners. A residence already is on the property so if the property owners want to build a new building on the property, they will have to petition the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals.
The property is on the east side of Ind. 13 in Tippecanoe Township.
Dropped from the hearings Wednesday was a petition by Tim Miller to rezone ground from an agricultural to a residential district. The property is on the south side of Pierceton Road and 300 feet west of CR 250E in Wayne Township.
The final plat for Innovative Land Development, developers of Crestview Subdivision, was approved. The preliminary plat for the 40.63 acres was approved last month. For phase I of the project, there will be 22 lots.
The property is on the east side of CR 175E in Wayne Township.
Members of the plan commission are Vic Virgil, Charlie Haffner, Kelly Easterday, Don Arms, Dick Kemper, Hal Strong, Norm Lovell, Larry Coplen and Kevin McSherry. They meet at 1 p.m. in the Justice Building meeting room on the first Wednesday of every month.
