On Monday, June 2, at 9:40 a.m., I left my home at Heritage Lake Park and headed to quilt club. As I headed north on CR 250, I noticed that they had peeled off roughly four feet on the right side of the road. The machine that did that process, together with a huge truck to take the old road bed away, was on my left.
I got almost to Lakeland Christian School when, low and behold, a SUV was headed my way. I sat and waited for him to decide how to get out of this mess. There was no one directing traffic like a stop and go sign to let the cars through. Apparently, the SUV felt he had the right of way and sat. I finally started backing up.
Now, keep in mind, no two-legged workers around, about a 6-inch drop-off on my right, and this huge machine devouring the old road bed, spitting hunks of the old road bed out, hitting my car and a huge truck that was to carry the old road bed off.
I'm almost to the beginning of this whole mess and a two-legged man appeared - saying nothing and not helping with any directing. I stopped and put the passenger side window down and asked why there wasn't someone around to direct traffic. Smart man that he was - he asked me where I was going - answer, trying to get to Wooster and eventually to Winona Avenue. His remark was, "Didn't you read the sign?" What sign and where as I had just left home (Heritage Lake Park)? He said the sign was on Pierceton Road at CR 250. Fat lot of good that does when I live in Heritage Lake Park, or for the people living in Lexington Manor.
Do these people not understand that they need someone or two to help direct traffic when a road is closed to a single lane? Did he think I was going this way just to make his life miserable? After all, he wasn't doing anything and I was probably interrupting his "break" time. For some time, traffic went north on CR 250 and wiggled around Grace Village. There were no warnings that things were about to change. Is there no one in charge of anything regarding this whole road project? Come on, start thinking, you are getting paid, and not for a job well done.
