I agree with Mr. Carter's comments in his 11/9 letter to the editor. At any given time of the day there are 10 to 15 cars going in both directions on CR 100E.
Has a traffic study been done to determine how many cars use this road? It is the major road to all the new stores, Walgreen's, Owen's and shopping on the east side of Warsaw plus all the doctors in this town and the hospital for all of us who need to access these facilities. The medical and emergency services are now in jeopardy for everyone that lives in the Northeastern quadrant of this county. Mr. Beall, the Warsaw Airport manager, is sorry for any inconvenience, however, he doesn't live north of 30.
If one life is lost because of not having access to CR 100E, which is the quickest way to the hospital from our area by the emergency vehicles based in Leesburg, will he still be sorry for the inconvenience? Yes, of course, the Warsaw fire chief says he has no problem with fire protection issues, that is because the people that live in the northeastern part of the county are serviced by the Leesburg Fire Department.
The Times-Union story from 11/10 tells us that the request for the expansion is from the pilots and, of course, the other commercial companies that utilize the airport. Biomet needs 5,100 feet minimum to land. How do they land now with a runway that is only 4,084 feet and why would they buy a plane that requires more feet to land than the current runway? Is this the way they force the issue to get what they want? Why not just have the corporate companies invest in building a new airport with more land for future expansion then they can design what they want, especially if they want to make a commercial hub in Warsaw anyway. A compromise would be an underpass as suggested by Christa Carpenter. It would be less costly than building a new airport.
Please attend the plan commission's public hearing on annexation of the land east of CR 100E scheduled for Dec. 13 at 7p.m. in City Hall to let your objections be heard.
