A Warsaw couple were arrested recently on domestic battery charges after a physical altercation inside their apartment.
Jarred Jay Miller, 20, of 466 Clinic Court, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:15 p.m. June 6 for domestic battery in the presence of a child under 16, a level 6 felony. His preliminary bond was set at $6,000. Court documents filed Thursday also have Miller facing a charge of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
Carmen Carolina Garcia, 20, of 466 Clinic Court, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the KCJ at 5:59 p.m. June 6 for domestic battery in the presence of a child under 16. Her preliminary bond also was set at $6,000.
On June 6, Warsaw Police officer Jacob Metzger responded to a fight in progress at 466 Clinic Court. Upon arrival, he saw Miller straddling Garcia, in the doorway of apartment 466. Metzger heard Garcia shout for Miller to get off her and that he struck her three times.”
As Metzger approached, the fighting stopped.
A witness told Metzger that Garcia became angry when she arrived home and discovered Miller’s ex-girlfriend and his son inside her apartment. The witness said Garcia attempted to fight with the ex-girlfriend but Miller wouldn’t let Garcia inside the apartment so she climbed through a window.
The witness said she saw a physical fight between Garcia and Miller.
Metzger spoke with the ex-girlfriend who said her and Miller’s son was in the residence visiting Miller when Garcia came home unexpectedly.
She said Garcia became angry and wanted to fight her. Miller held Garcia back and refused to let her in the residence, and the fight between Miller and Garcia started. After Garcia entered the apartment through a window, the fight continued inside where Miller held Garcia down in the doorway.
Another witness told police she saw Garcia arrive home and seemed to be calm until Miller wouldn’t let her inside her apartment and a physical confrontation started. The witness said she saw Miller force Garcia to the doorway where they were fighting, with Miller on top pulling Garcia’s hair.
