SYRACUSE - A 3-month-old is in protective custody, and the parents are in jail after the child was found in a home with chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

At 10:40 p.m. Friday night, Syracuse Police Department officers investigated a possible meth lab at 519 Turtle Bay Drive, Syracuse. After getting consent to enter the home, officers found several items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine at the home, along with paraphernalia.

The child's parents, Jeremy Ray Weaver, 27, and Cassandra Ann Goshert, 19, were arrested and booked into Kosciusko County Jail on charges of an illegal drug lab and neglect of a dependent child. Both are being held on $5,000 bond.

According to police, the home also was found to be "very filthy on the inside, littered with trash, clothes, chemicals and hypodermic needles."

Police said they also found two snakes in the home as well.

Because of the condition of the home and the items found, Child Protective Services was contacted and requested to the scene.
