The candidates are set for the May primaries for county positions.
The deadline for filing to run in the primary was Feb 10 at noon.
Jason F. McSherry, 6294 W. CR 600S, Claypool, will run for the position of clerk of Circuit Court. McSherry is the incumbent and he will run unopposed.
For middle county commissioner, Ronald D. Truex, 7518 W. Snyder Road, Warsaw, is seeking to keep his seat. Brad Jackson, 309 Jackson Hole, Syracuse, the northern county commissioner also is seeking re-election. Truex and Jackson are both Republicans.
The county coroner race has three people vying for the position. Anthony W. Ciriello, 12205 N. Creek Bend Lane, Milford; Carl D. Saint, 10402 S. Ind. 15, Lot 4, Silver Lake; and Michael D. Wilson, 2019 E. CR 700N, Leesburg, are all Republicans.
The most contested positions in this year’s race are the county council seats. There are only three seats up for grabs and there are eight candidates vying for the position. All three of the incumbents seek another term.
The candidates are: Larry E. Teghtmeyer, 4080 E. Forest Glen Ave., Leesburg, incumbent; Joshua D. Bartman, 1422 N. Shagbark Drive, Warsaw; Jonathan P. Fussle, 1311 Park Ave., Winona Lake; Lee Anne Brown, 519 W. Winona Ave., Apt D, Warsaw; Sean M. Boylan, 201 N. Maple Ave., Warsaw; Robert J. Beer, 505 W. Emeline St, Milford; Thomas L. Angln, 2757 N. CR 875W, Etna Green, incumbent; Robert G. Sanders, 3294 N. CR 600E, Warsaw, incumbent.
Bartman and Brown have both filed as Democrats, and the rest of the candidates have filed under the Republican ticket.
Richard J. Kemper, 8112 E. CR 850N, Syracuse, incumbent, will run unopposed for county surveyor; and Sue Ann Mitchell, 6200 E. McKenna Road, Warsaw, incumbent, will run for county treasurer. Kemper and Mitchell are both Republicans.
The primary is May 8. The filing deadline for independents is July 2 at noon.
In the case that there are positions in which no Democrats are running for them after the primary, the Democrats may have a convention and appoint candidates to run for those positions by July 3 at noon.
