County Officials Take Oath Of Office

County elected officials were sworn in Tuesday before the Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting.

Superior Court I Judge Duane G. Huffer swore in Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Rex L. Reed.

Reed then swore in Sharon Christner, clerk of the circuit court; Bradford L. Jackson, northern district county commissioner; Ronald D. Truex, middle district county commissioner; Maurice Beer and Larry Teghtmeyer, councilmen at-large; treasurer Stephanie Essenwein; surveyor Richard Kemper; and Larry Ladd, coroner.

Pastor Ron Roetman gave the invocation and benediction while Charlene Knispel, president of the Kosciusko Republican Women's Club, led the pledge of allegiance.

Christner announced the certification of the election.

In other business, the county commissioners:

• Named Jackson as president and Avis Gunter vice president.

• Appointed Jackson to the drainage and solid waste boards and wage committee; Gunter to the solid waste and St. Joseph River Basin boards; and Truex to Kosciusko Development Inc. and Work Force Development.

Members of the county commissioners are Jackson, Gunter and Truex. They meet at 9 a.m. every other Tuesday in the old courtroom. Their next meeting is Jan. 16 at 9 a.m.
