County Looks At Updating Sign Rules

Posted
Kosciusko County Commissioners this morning reviewed updating the county’s sign ordinance.
Dan Richard, director of Kosciusko Area Plan Commission, said the commissioners requested the ordinance be reviewed to make it simpler.
Kosciusko Board of Realtors asked the county to do enforcement on signs and the county is looking at its sign ordinance and how to regulate signs.
“We are beginning to look at not just real estate signs, but all signs across the board,” Richard said. “We have nothing proposed at this time, but are beginning to look at possibilities of a revision to our ordinance.”
Ron Truex, commissioner, said the commission asked for there to be a new sign ordinance.
“It had evolved over the years and we want a simpler sign ordinance,” Truex said.
In other business, the commissioners reviewed dump truck bids that will be taken under advisement and voted on at the March meeting.
The commissioners approved a request from Chad and Annie Zartman to rezone 40 acres of property off of Ind. 15 north of CR 400N from commercial to agricultural  for use as hunting.
The commissioners also approved selling property on Hillside Drive, Warsaw, and a consulting services contract between the county and Maximus Consulting Services for cost allocation to see if the county is eligible for federal reimbursements.
