An autopsy performed Friday determined the cause of a Kosciusko County Jail inmate's death was "self-inflicted hanging."
Quentin Gabriel Jones, 30, Cromwell, was found dead in his jail cell Thursday afternoon.
An earlier report from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department listed Jones as being from Syracuse.An autopsy was performed on Jones, and the cause of death was "asphyxiation due to self-inflicted hanging."
A preliminary investigation revealed that jailers at KCJ found Jones unresponsive in his cell after he didn't come out for a meal.
Jones was in a segregation unit of the jail, which is on lockdown for 23 hours a day. Jones was the only occupant of his cell.
Indiana State Police, who were in charge of investigating Jones' death, stated "no foul play is suspected."
Jones was pronounced dead at the jail.
Jones was in jail for burglary to a residence, which is a Class B felony. ISP said Jones' family was notified of his death.
No further information, including the reason Jones was in a segregation unit or when his release date from jail was, was made available as of Friday afternoon.
