Kosciusko County will receive $160,000 in grant money from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources T-by-2000 Lake and River Enhancement (LARE) program for water quality improvements, IDNR announced in July.
Lake Wawasee will receive $30,000, Pike Lake will receive $55,000 and Lake Tippecanoe will receive $75,000.
The landowners around lakes Wawasee and Pike will use the money for a variety of agricultural project, and landowners on Lake Tippecanoe will use theirs for the improvement of two areas as well as a retention basin for the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club.
T-by-2000 is a statewide soil conservation and water quality protection initiative. The LARE portion is funded by state-collected boat fees and provides technical, administrative, educational and grant assistance to local entities for solving erosion and nutrient-related problems affecting public access lakes and streams.
