County Fair Officially Opens Today

Posted

A little rain did fall on the the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair parade yesterday.

Despite the weather, there was a pretty good turnout, according to fair board member Trish Marshall. Marshall is chairwoman of the entertainment committee this year.

"We had 61 entries plus about 25 from fire departments, EMS and law enforcement," she said this morning.

She hopes for another good turnout and good weather for tonight's Shafer Motorsports' monster truck show in the grandstand.

Marshall said everything is going well so far with "the right people in the right places. Ami Pitt has everything running smoothly in the activity tent. Mike Loher is working on the track. Everything's under control."

Fair activities really get under way this evening with the youth contests. The Junior Miss and Mister Kosciusko and the senior talent contests will select representatives for the state fair contests.

Kiddie's day is Tuesday with many activities planned throughout the day.

Daily admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 to 15. Weekly passes are $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 15. Children age 5 and younger are free. Adults 65 years old and older pay $1, and 4-H parents' weekly admission is $7.50.
