Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
A Kosciusko County compost site may be a possibility in the near future.
The issue was recently brought up during the Kosciusko Solid Waste Management District meeting Thursday.
The compost site would benefit all surrounding cities and towns, excluding Warsaw, which has its own facility. The Solid Waste Management Citizens Advisory Committee and the SWM Board are exploring ideas on the subject.
The benefits of a compost site include collection of yard waste resulting in free mulch, available for all members of the county.
Another plan being discussed is the possibility of a permanent drop-off location for tires. Several plans have been discussed and a proposal could be received next month.
Other topics of the meeting included a possible updating of the Solid Waste Management web page and an idea for a paper recycling office.
