County Dems Talk Permanent Building

Posted
The Kosciusko County Democrats  discussed a possible location for a new, permanent building during their monthly meeting Monday night at Richard’s Restaurant in Warsaw.

According to democratic chair Terry Bartley, a building at 417 E. Winona Ave. in Warsaw is a prospective location.
The building is 2,750 square feet.

The democrats voted Monday night to move forward with the building.

Bartley said some renovations need to be made to the building but it will provide a permanent location for county democrats.

To offset the monthly lease of $550, Bartley said he hoped to rent out space to local unions for meeting space.

Bartley said obtaining a building has been a goal of county democrats for some time and was the main reason behind bringing MSNBC’s Ed Schultz to Warsaw in September.

Third district democratic chair Carmen Darland told those in attendance that several buses are headed from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis this week to protest potential Right To Work legislation.

Darland also urged democrats in Kosciusko County to become state delegates for the state convention.
The Indiana Democratic Party State Convention is from June 14 to 16.

Those interested in becoming delegates can register to do so at the county clerk’s office from Jan. 11 to Feb. 10.

Feb. 10 is also the primary filing deadline for local offices.

County democrats ended 2011 with a balance of $67,038.09.

A website for Kosciusko County democrats is also under development.

The county democrats’ next meeting is Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at Richard’s.
