County COVID Count Surpasses 1,300 Cases With 37 NewBetween noon Tuesday and noon Thursday, the Kosciusko County Health Department reported receiving a total of 37 new molecular and antigen positive COVID-19 cases.
This gives Kosciusko County a cumulative total of 1,314 positive antigen and molecular cases, including 17 deaths, according to a release from the KCHD Thursday.
Broken down by month, there were 151 positive antigen and 125 positive molecular tests in September; 114 antigen and 108 molecular positive tests in August; 323 positive molecular and one positive antigen tests in July; 348 positive molecular tests in June, 106 in May, 31 in April and five positives in March. Antigen tests were not counted until July.
Of the 1,314 cumulative cases, 17 are deaths, 166 are total active cases with seven hospitalized cases and 1,124 are recovered cases.
Women account for 714 of the cases, versus 600 for men.
By age, 292 cases are between the ages of 19 to 29; 235 are 50 to 59; 184 are 60 to 69; 183 are 40 to 49; 150 are 30 to 39; 140 are birth to 18; 68 are 80 to 99; and 62 cases are 70 to 79 years old.
Finally, by race, whites are 70.6% of the cases, who make up 88% of the county’s population according to 2017 estimates. Hispanics, who make up 8% of the population, account for 26.1% of the COVID cases; Asians, 2% of the population; African Americans, 1% of the population, make up 0.3% of the COVID cases; and “other,” who make up 1% of the population account for 2.2% of the COVID cases.
Symptoms reported by those who tested positive for the coronavirus included fever/feverish, 440 cases; cough, 487; shortness of breath/wheezing/difficulty breathing, 214; sore throat, 290; diarrhea, 131; runny nose, 305; muscle pain/weakness, 529; chills, 323; headache, 454; nausea, 163; and lost taste or smell was reported by 307 people.
