County Council Approves Fund Transfers, Appropriations

The Kosciusko County Council approved several transfers and additional appropriations at its monthly meeting Thursday night.

County Clerk Jason McSherry was given approval to spend $18,968 to pay for its case management system.

Money also will go toward new dividers for the basement and a new imaging system that will allow residents to access records faster, and if so desired, paperlessly.

The money from the records perpetuation fund is a combination of user fees and federal money so the money doesn’t come out of county funds.

The council tabled two motions to its November meeting.

OrthoWorx made a presentation to the board to see if the county would become a dues-paying member.

OrthoWorx CEO David Floyd, who gave a similar presentation to the county commissioners, went over what the purpose of OrthoWorx was.

With just five council members at Thursday’s meeting, Brad Tandy and Bob Sanders were absent, council president Tom Anglin said it would be best to vote on joining the business league with a full council.

An amendment to the Kosciusko County Police Retirement plan was also tabled. Sheriff Rocky Goshert said he wanted the council to talk to someone involved with the account to answer the council’s questions.

Health Department Director Bob Weaver received an additional appropriation of $5,000. The money will go toward buying more vaccines.

The health department charges for vaccines to cover the cost and also adds a $10 administrative fee.

Weaver said his department has seen a spike in travel vaccines for residents who are traveling outside the United States.

County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden received an additional appropriation of $50,000 to pay for gasoline through the end of the year.

Tilden said the spike has come from additional road projects as well as rising fuel costs.

911 Director David Rosenberry was approved for transfers of $2,910.

Rosenberry also informed the council he had a dispatcher leaving. He was given permission to fill that position.

The council’s next meeting is Nov. 10 in the old courtroom at Kosciusko County Courthouse.
