Because one dispatcher is on medical leave, another is required to cover her position and various earned absences like vacations and personal days.
Funds for the position will come from office equipment in the amount of $15,348 and a dispatcher fund also in the amount of $15,348.
The council heard the animal control officer's vehicle was in an accident and it will cost $21,291 to purchase a replacement.
Transfers in the amount of $2,300 were necessary to fund Susie Stookey's appointment as the new Plain Township assessor following the retirement of Jean Lynch. Stookey was chief deputy and had vacation and compensatory time that had to be paid, causing a shortfall in accounts.
The council heard from County Administrator Ron Robinson who said the work release center renovations were nearly done and costs came in just below projections. He said a benefit garage sale is scheduled by county employees in the Munson Building Saturday. An auction at the county high garage also is set for Saturday.
Auditor Sue Ann Mitchell advised the council that budget books were available.
She also said the Association of Indiana Counties' fall conference agenda is available.
The council's next meetings are Aug. 28 and 29 at 6 p.m. and Aug. 31 for budget hearings.
County council members are Harold Jones, Larry Teghtmeyer, Tom Anglin, Charlene Knispel, Bob Sanders, John Kinsey and Brad Tandy. Anglin and Tandy were absent.
