More than $5.3 million in unpaid child support was collected in 2000 through the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutor Chuck Waggoner said child support enforcement collections increased in January by $91,000 over January 2000. He said he expects the amount of support to continue to increase this year because of a StepAhead grant the office received to provide for an additional caseworker.
Adding a caseworker permits a greater focus on parents who fail to meet their duty to their children, Waggoner said.
