County Approves Backhoe Purchase

Posted
The Kosciusko County Commissioners approved a bid for a new backhoe/loader for the county highway department this morning.

The 2012 590 Case backhoe/loader will come from McDonald Machinery out of Fort Wayne and carries a price tag of $84,333.

The county received a trade-in of $15,500 for its old backhoe.

The county received three bids. The lowest bid was thrown out because it didn’t meet county specifications.

A temporary road closure was approved for CR 150W between Ind. 15 and CR 200S.

That section of road will be closed from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 26 for a Walnut Creek Church event.

Dr. Nate Bosch, from Kosciusko Lakes and Streams, was on hand to give the commissioners an update from this summer’s Northern Indiana Lakes Festival.

Bosch said more than 2,000 people attended the two-day event.

The event is organized to teach people the value of the area’s lakes as well as how to better take care of them, said Bosch.

This year a new event was a lakes and agriculture forum.

Jerry Frost, from Frost Engineering, gave a presentation to the commissioners about his business as well.
