County Again Declares Disaster Emergency

Posted
For the second time this month, Kosciusko County Commissioners have signed a disaster emergency declaration due to cold and snow.
Commissioners signed the order this morning, citing winter storms Sunday and today that have impacted the county with snowfall, high winds and extremely cold temperatures. County government is closed today,  according to Emergency Management Director Ed Rock, though Warsaw and Winona Lake remain open.
The declaration calls for residents to comply with necessary emergency measures, and prohibits travel on county roadways except travel for work, emergency response and other travel as directed by Commissioners.
Elkhart County Commissioners signed a similar order this morning, closing county offices and prohibiting travel.
School closures today include Warsaw, Wawasee, Triton, Manchester, Tippecanoe Valley, Whitko and several Ivy Tech locations including Warsaw. The City of Warsaw has cancelled trash pickup today and Tuesday.
