The Kosciusko County Council approved a $55,000 additional appropriation for the County Sheriff's Department Thursday.
The additional money is for gas, oil and lubricants for sheriff's department vehicles. Sheriff Rocky Goshert told the council the money is needed because fuel and oil costs are increasing and because his department's transportation duties are increasing.
The council approved a 2007 salary ordinance amendment setting the pay rate for a part-time appraiser at $20 per hour. The council also approved six amendments to the 2008 salary ordinance. Auditor Elect Marsha McSherry told the council the 2008 amendments are corrections. They include a $1,270.61 bi-weekly pay rate for work release assistant director, $20 per hour for a part-time appraiser, $894.04 bi-weekly for a commercial industrial appraiser, $1,278.93 bi-weekly for an assistant court reporter, $1,956.06 bi-weekly for an environmental scientist and $1,530.80 bi-weekly for an environmental food specialist.
