Council Approves Clerk's Request

During a brief meeting Thursday night, the Kosciusko County Council approved a request from county clerk Jason McSherry.

McSherry asked for the council's blessing to spend $2,000 to have old records and marriage licenses rebound with Faulkner Bindery.

McSherry said there is about $65,000 in his department's maintenance of records account and he had not budgeted binding into the 2011 budget.

McSherry also said that at some point he will have to look at converting some records to micro-fish and digitizing some records, but there was no timeframe on that.

The council unanimously approved McSherry's request.

Bob Sanders was re-appointed to the Lakeland Regional Sewer District as the council's representative.

Bob Boyer was re-appointed to the Winona Lake Economic Development Commission.

The council accepted a conflict-of-interest statement from Brad Newcomer.

Newcomer serves on the Nappanee Library Board and also does engraving work for the library.

A transfer request from the sheriff's department was approved.

To cover repairs from a Jan. 30 collision, $2,021.46 was moved from reimbursement insurance to repairs and maintenance.

The council's next meeting will be April 14 at 7 p.m.The council meets monthly in the old courtroom at the Kosciusko County Courthouse.

Council members are Doug Heinisch, District 1; Jim Moyer, District 2; Brad Tandy, District 3; John Kinsey, District 4; Larry Teghtmeyer, at large; Thomas Anglin, at large; Robert Sanders, at large.

Tandy was absent from Thursday's meeting.
