I'm writing to express my opinion that Ann Coulter's column should stay in the Times-Union. She is clever, articulate, funny, to the point and with reference to Sen. Joe Biden, clean!
As for Gary Gerard being insulted in her statement written in last Saturday's News Views, Mr. Gerard and others didn't get the joke. Have you seen the video on YouTube of Mr. Edwards primping up like a woman readying for a date? I was laughing so hard. Why do you think he's called the "Breck girl?"
Ann Coulter was clearly pointing out the fact that any white heterosexual male or female can't say (or in the case of actor Isaiah Washington, who is black, of the TV show "Grey's Anatomy") a word deemed derogatory by the left while daily television, print and radio media (with very left-leaning ideologies) and any non-white heterosexual male or female can display or utter the big "F" word, "N" word, "B" word and countless other derogatory, defamatory and belittling words. I've heard homosexuals call themselves gay, fag, queer, light in the loafers, fay, sweet or countless other descriptions, but do they have sole right to those adjectives?
The reference by Coulter to attending rehab for saying the word "faggot" was in reference to Mr. Washington apologizing, being counseled by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance, and stating he was going to seek help, i.e. rehab for his use of the word in denying he used the word to describe one of his co-actors on the show.
How did our society get so wound up in the rear regions for every little utterance that is deemed offensive by the left? I have friends, black, brown, white and yellow, who are able to laugh at themselves and the stereotypes in our society.
We now have that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Peter Pace, stating he supports the policy of "don't ask, don't tell" in the military but states as an individual he believes "homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral." Now various loud groups are demanding an apology. For what? Speaking your mind? Yes, he is in a powerful position, but if Joe Smith said those same words on national television, he would be verbally tarred and feathered just the same.
If you don't tow the line and speak politically correct, you are demonized and verbally tarred and feathers by the left, the mainstream media and our left/liberal and weak-kneed Republican U.S. representative and senators.
Sounds like the old Soviet Union and Nazi German to me.
