Cougar Pause: Parent Shares Her Reasoning For Enrolling Child At LCA

Editor’s Note: Today’s Cougar Pause was written by Ronna Fruth. She is a new parent with LCA. Following is her LCA testimony: When our daughter started eighth grade in the public school we started to feel like God was calling us to send her to Lakeland Christian Academy. As the year progressed the call deepened; however, we kept praying asking God if this is the direction we needed to take. Toward the end of the school year we were blessed with the exact amount needed to attend Lakeland and we knew this was from God and this was the direction we were to take. At freshman orientation we were so comforted by Carmen Flores opening the meeting in prayer, and I knew in my heart this was the school we needed to be at. My 14-year-old was very nervous to start a new school and start over with a whole new group of friends; however, a few weeks into the school year she told us that she used to love God with her head but now she loves Him with her heart and she thanked us for sending her to Lakeland. The teachers are amazing. Each teacher goes above and beyond to make sure my child learns the material. They send email, they stay after school, they ask how they can help, but most importantly they pray for my child and our family. God’s word tells us to: “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). As a parent, this is our greatest calling and one we can’t take lightly. We are very grateful for Lakeland in helping us achieve this calling. If you ever feel the slightest “whisper” that God is telling you to do the same, please don’t ignore it. There is a reason He whispers this to you. He’s already there. He knows your child’s future. When it comes down to life goals for our children, the only goal we have is that they love Jesus with their whole heart and follow His ways always. There is still time to enroll for second semester.
