As we entered our 40th year of providing our area with a first-class seventh- to 12th-grade educational experience, our school family began reflecting on some of the areas in which we have been blessed as a school. The list is endless and would be too large to fit in any newspaper, so in honor of our 40th anniversary, here are 40 reasons why we humbly take pride in Lakeland Christian Academy. 1. Christ is the true head of our school. At Lakeland we are not just a Christian school in name; we truly rely on the Holy Spirit to lead every aspect of what we do. 2. At Lakeland we are able to pray openly for and with our students. 3. Our SAT and ACT scores are above local, state and national averages. 4. We are an ACSI/NCA-CASI accredited school which means we meet or exceed very strict standards. Our curriculum is very challenging and exceeds INDOE academic standards. 5. All of our teachers teach from a Christian perspective. 6. We provide countless leadership opportunities for our students. 7. Our caring school environment is safe physically, socially, mentally and spiritually. We do not tolerate bullying of any type. 8. Our campus spreads out over 39 beautiful acres in Northern Indiana. 9. We are flexible to accommodate our parents’ and students’ desires and wishes. They truly have a voice in the decision making at our school. 10. Our high school athletic programs are members of the Indiana High School Athletic Association. 11. Over 50 percent of our students participate in athletics. 12. We have a graduation rate that is over 99 percent. 13. Our students have the opportunity to play on multiple athletic teams. 14. We participate in the School Choice voucher program and provide financial assistance for like mined families to enroll their children regardless of income. 15. We prepare good writers. Our test scores are very high on the English End of Course Assessment. 16. Our alumni are passionate about LCA. 17. Small class sizes allow for individual attention and personal relationships. 18. Every other week all of our students serve for half a day in 12 local non-profit organizations. 19. There are no known divorces of couples that have met while at Lakeland. 20. A high percentage of our graduates attend college. 21. We support many missions programs and encourage mission trips for our students. 22. We are very flexible in our teaching methods and offer differentiated learning. 23. Our annual food drive for Combined Community Services is inspirational, collecting over 14,000 pounds of food in two days each fall. 24. Our students participate in the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy. 25. Our drama, music and choir programs are excellent and every student has the opportunity to participate. 26. Our Parent Teacher Fellowship is in tune with and very involved in our school. 27. Fifty-five percent of our junior-senior students are National Honor Society students. 28. Our coaches are all Christian believers and care about the spiritual life of their athletes. 29. Our students have received National Merit Scholarships. 30. Our student athletes have been awarded collegiate athletic scholarships. 31. We are able to teach that we exist because God created man in His own image, not just by a random explosion or from evolving from a monkey. 32. There is excellent communication between our teachers and parents. 33. We are blessed to be able to conduct our own inspirational chapel and worship services. 34.
