Corporate Dodgeball Raises over $4,000

Hundreds filed into Lakeview Middle School Tuesday night for the annual Corporate Dodgeball.

The event is put on by Bowen Center and proceeds go to benefit United Way.

More than $4,000 was raised from the event.

Sixteen teams were entered into this year’s tournament. This year’s winner was the team from Biomet.

Members of the Biomet team were Michael Humphrey, Dzi Penny, Nick Hisdon, Bill O’Brien, Clint Kehres, Dan North, Mark Messman, Greg Myers, Julie Averill, Justin Evans and Cody Sheckler.

Biomet defeated Medtronic in the final round.

Teams from Paragon Medical and Grace College rounded out the tournament’s final four.

Each round, teams had five minutes to knock out the players on the opposing team. If no team had lost all its players, the team with the most remaining moved on.

Door prizes were given out throughout the evening, and at half time kids had a chance to throw balls at mascots from Willie 103.5 and the Bowen Center.

Before the championship game, a ticket drawing was held to give one person the chance to win a brand new Jeep from the Warsaw AutoPlex.

The winning ticket belonged to Ben Rice from Lake City Bank.

Rice was given three basketballs at different parts of half court.

Unfortunately, Rice missed all three shots, but was given a consolation prize of movie passes from North Pointe Cinemas and a backpack from the Bowen Center.

Along with awards for the top finishers, awards were given out for the team that was best dressed and a “Big Hit.”

Paragon Medical earned the prize for the best dressed team.

Grace College was awarded the Big Hit award.

Along with the dodgeball event, United Way is holding its Pacesetter campaign.

Companies are raising money for United Way to help fund the many programs they run in Kosciusko County.
