The North Manchester man who crashed his helicopter Sunday died from his injuries Monday.
According to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, Theodore Oldfather, 76, of North Manchester, was pronounced brain dead at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne at 2:42 p.m.
The coroner’s office said Oldfather is being kept on life support because the family has chosen to donate his organs.
Oldfather’s single-engine, single-seat helicopter went down in a grassy field on his North Manchester property around 6:13 p.m. Sunday just off of Ind. 114 about 1-1/2 miles west of North Manchester.
Wabash County Sheriff Ryan Baker said the cause of the crash is unknown at this time. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
