Cops & Roads

Editor, Times-Union:

Dear Tax Slaves,

I sure wouldn't want to mess in anyone's punchbowl, but ... it seems the locale police who we used to support and tried to keep them independent are no longer independent.

Not only are they being taken over by the feds, but they have become tax collectors, too.

Since politicians always squander your money during good times, someone's got to take up the slack in bad times. That's where you come in, tax slave.

Locale and state cops are now big time revenuers. And it's not very much about your safety.

I learned that a perfect driving record since 1961 doesn't mean a thing when there is revenue to be had.

Watch out for that speed trap just off new U.S. 30E onto Old 30 toward the lakes. Also, If you go east on new U.S. 30 and are fighting the cross traffic from Menards don't you dare miss that no right on red little sign. Oh, you, too?

Jackie Gleason with a donut in his mouth is just laying for you.

Then there is traffic Judge "Roy Bean," the best revenuer judge west of Fort Wayne.

Bottom line is, if Warsaw business is hurting, it may pay them to have a talk with the local city council because Columbia City, Goshen, Plymouth, North Manchester, and even little towns like Mentone would love your business. I know they are are going to get a lot more of mine.
