Kosciusko County Sheriff's deputies made an unexpected drug arrest Monday evening as they searched for a man who had jumped bail.
Trevor A. Gard, 33, of 9915 E. CR 1050N, Cromwell, was arrested at 5 p.m. after deputies and a bail bond recovery agent visited his residence searching for the fugitive Rodney Conrad.
Conrad was not at the residence, but as officers searched a barn, they encountered a small room with drugs and paraphernalia in plain view.
Upon seeing a white powdered substance, a "rock" of the substance, (later identified as methamphetamine or "speed") razor blades and straws sitting on a table, police entered the room and found an additional "rock" and baggies of marijuana.
The baggies contained specific marijuana amounts as typically sold by dealers.
Also found were a scale, as used to divide drugs for packaging, and $7,560 in cash, hidden inside a gun cabinet.
Gard was booked into the Kosicusko County Jail at 6:48 p.m. Monday on preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.
