LEESBURG – A bone that resembles a human tibia will be shipped off to a forensic anthropologist next week.
The bone was discovered by a Warsaw man who was scuba diving in Tippecanoe Lake.
The man told the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department he found the bone at about a depth of 20 feet.
The man told police he couldn’t tell whether it was human or animal.
Kosciusko County Coroner John Sadler said the bone does look like a human tibia, but to be certain the bone will be shipped to forensic anthropologist Dr. Steve Nawrocki who works out of the University of Indianapolis.
Sadler said anytime his office receives a bone where the office can’t determine what it is, they send it out for further analysis.
Sadler said in the past bones have turned out to be animal bones or from Indian burial grounds in the area.Car Stolen From Warsaw Lot
