Cooper Sets School Record With A 38

NORTH MANCHESTER - Ashley Cooper shot a 38, two strokes better than the school record held by six other players, as Warsaw beat Whitko Tuesday 177-272.

Cooper had seven pars and two bogies on the par-36 Sycamore Golf Club to set the record. Kerri Wrobel shot a 45 for the Tigers.

For Whitko, Deanna Mettler shot the best score with a 53.

In junior varsity action, Warsaw shot a 216 and Whitko shot a 295. Lesley Daniels led the Tigers with a 50. Jodi Walters and Kathy Walters each shot a 67 to lead Whitko. The Warsaw JV team is now 4-0.

Warsaw (5-0) will be at Mill Creek Golf Course Thursday against Valley at 4:15 p.m. Whitko will host NorthWood Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Penn 182, West Noble 248, Wawasee 251

At Syracuse, Wawasee missed splitting a three-team meet by four strokes Tuesday as West Noble squeaked by the Warriors.

Jamie Mikolajczak took medalist honors for Penn with a 41. Julia Wolfe led Wawasee with a 54.

Wawasee will host Huntington North Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

NorthWood 178, Valley 226

At Nappanee, Mary Gast shot a 54 but the Vikings lost Tuesday.

Erica Pontious and Ginger Ervin each shot a 57 for Valley.

In junior varsity action, Maggie Rock and Terra Weaver each shot a 58 for the Vikings.

Valley will host Warsaw Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Mishawaka Marian Over Triton 15-9, 15-9

At Bourbon, Triton struggled in its first match of the season, losing in two sets Tuesday.

Kendra Blackford led Triton with 12 assists and had an ace, while Emily Yankovich had five kills.

In junior varsity action, Mishawaka Marian won 15-11, 15-2. Betsy Salyer had three kills and was 13-of-14 passing but the team still fell to 0-1 on the year.

Triton (0-1) will be at Oregon-Davis Thursday.

Drew Shafer lost at No. 1 singles for the Vikings 6-2, 7-5 in the closest match of the day.

In junior varsity action, Valley lost 3-0. Brett Kollin played the closest match for the Vikings, losing 8-3.

Valley (0-1) will compete in the Cass Tournament Saturday at 8 a.m.
