A Warsaw man facing potential home improvement fraud charges said health issues are behind why work he was contracted to do hasn't been finished.
Matthew William Trier, 42, Warsaw, contacted the Times-Union to discuss the issue this morning.
Trier stated that he called the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and prosecutor's office several times.
KCSD stated they attempted to contact Trier during the initial investigation.
"They never returned my calls," claimed Trier.
Trier said complications from a mastoid tumor he had removed 15 years ago caused him to be in the emergency room or hospital 11 times this year.
"I started off the year with two full crews," said Trier. "I had to let one crew go because they just stopped showing up. I had health problems, and every time I ended up in the hospital they kept me off work for a week at a time."
Trier stated he sent letters to customers whose homes weren't finished, explaining his situation.
Trier stated that he has since filed bankruptcy.
Trier also disputed the report from KCSD stating he provided five different addresses. Trier said he has lived in only three different addresses in 2008.
