Need a new turntable, some beef jerky or new clothes?
Warsaw retailers will join others nationwide with discounts on what has become known as Small Business Saturday, which is linked to the Twitter hashtag #ShopSmall.
Downtown retailers in Warsaw will feature specials Saturday as they try to keep pace on shopping mania that kicked off with Black Friday sales and continues with online sales on Cyber Monday.
As more and more people continue to go online to shop for Christmas and at big box stores, smaller retailers are banding together to promote themselves through coordinated promotions.
There are plenty of reasons to shop locally and here are two:
• According to a Civics Economics Study from Grand Rapids, Mich., for every $100 spent with local business, about $68 of that stays in the local community, compared to $43 with large stores.
• Franchised small businesses employ roughly 8 million people, and make up 40 percent of all American retail jobs, according to The Small Business Administration.
While there are numerous small retailers open and offering specials throughout the area, here are a few specials offered by retailers in Warsaw promoted by Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and the Warsaw Community Development Corporation:
• Bath House Records will offer 15 percent off on all merchandise plus some giveaways.
• Jerky Shop will offer four bags of jerky for $30.
