Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Last year more than 1,500 Kosciusko County children had new toys to open at Christmas because old toys were recycled and repurchased.
Proceeds from the sale are used to buy new toys and given away to local underprivileged children, according to organizer Ami Pitt.
The sale is scheduled for Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Home and Family Arts Building on the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.
Good quality, gently-used toys, movies, DVDs and baby equipment, anything excepting clothes, may be brought to the fairgrounds Dec. 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Clean coats, hats, mittens and scarves may be dropped off, but they are given away.
Volunteers price, make detailed lists and play with the toys to make sure they're in good working order.
Sellers receive 60 percent of the garage sale-priced items. Combined Community Services receives 40 percent of the sale price. The money buys new toys for local children.
"We want to make it clear that people should come and buy the toys. The sale is open to the public. Everyone is welcome to clean out the toy chests and then refill them with toys at the sale," Pitt said.
