Conrad “Connie” R. Anderson, 76, of Warsaw, died at 12:07 p.m. June 22, 2012, in his home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., to Rudolph C. and Viola Fern Longenecker Anderson. On June 11, 1981, in Milford, he married Marcia Colleen Marlatt, who survives.
He spent the first 12 years of his life in Chicago helping run his dad’s filling station and parking garage. He and his mother moved to Warsaw where he attended eighth grade at Atwood. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1953. He attended Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne. He spent summers on his uncle’s farm near Rossville. He was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church, where he was treasurer. He was a member of Warsaw Brethren Church, where he served as a moderator, trustee and taught Sunday School. He sang bass with Praisegiving Quartet for several years. He loved motorcycles from the age of 17 and owned Harley’s and a Honda Gold Wing. He was a Charter Life member of the American Motorcycle Association and bowled on teams for more than 25 years. He was an avid read, domino player and a jack of all trades. He was one of the faithful Breadings Bums and a die hard Cubs fan. He and his wife enjoyed going to Brown County. They attended the Indianapolis 500 for nearly 50 consecutive years. His favorite driver was Mario Andretti. He and his wife collected vintage cars and traveled to many car auctions. As disease progressed he became content to sit in his recliner watching sports and Fox News.
Also surviving are a daughter, JoLynn (and spouse Rick) Mylin, Warsaw; a son, Michael (and spouse Stacey) Anderson, Warsaw; five grandchildren, Logan, Brad and Shelby Anderson, Kyler and Tayler Mylin; a sister-in-law, Ann Baldridge, Warsaw; two nieces, Danielle and RoseAnn Brown, both of Elkhart; a nephew, John Ford, Springfield, Ohio; three great-nephews, T.J., LaVon and Dominique; six great-nieces, Daitriona, Destiny, Makayla, Ariel, Destiny and Faith; several cousins and many friends; his wife’s aunts, Gwen and Edie; and his beloved cats, Betty Rose and Martha. He was preceded in death by his parents; a special mother-in-law, Rose Margaret Marlatt; and a friend (Uncle) George Zajicek.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dutchtown Brethren Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Jack Worth officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
