Ms. Hartup scored a point in her response to my letter, but a very small one.
My parents want to live where they can afford the maintenance. When you live near the water, it is your responsibility to keep your wastewater out of the lake and out of your neighbor's well. Connecting to a sewer is a maintenance expense. Water quality is not an issue away from the lakes. Ms. Hartup twisted the two issues together. My parents don't wish to live near the lakes.
Regarding her claim that I am promoting sewers before the final figures are known, we can't ask for a new engineering study (with the cost figures) until the district is approved by IDEM. We need to become a legal entity in order to drill down to the expenses involved to complete the project. I promote establishing a district to determine the costs.
