SOUTH WHITLEY – A community benefit is being planned for Brittany Shoemaker, a hometown girl, wife of Kris Shoemaker, and daughter of Tim and Kim Smith of South Whitley. It will be Sept. 13 in South Whitley. Proceeds will go to help with previous medical bills as well as coming expenses related to her heart failure. Food will be served beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the South Whitley Fire Station and will include pulled pork, Amish potato salad, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, homemade pie and soft drinks. Backwater Band will begin playing at 7 p.m. at the north side of Brownstone's. Popcorn and soft drinks will be available. A dunk tank will be another main attraction and will be located at Carol's Corner. For those who cannot attend and want to donate, checks can be sent to Crossroads Bank, 105 E.
