As a member of, and on behalf of the Emergency Responder Community in Kosciusko County, I would like to take this time to thank the various county government agencies, individuals and county commissioners for their current efforts to address the communication issues we have all faced over the many past years with the proposal of new countywide communication system that will address the many issues we all face on a daily basis.
While this has been discussed in depth multiple times, it appears the technology to address the problems and the leadership within the county government have come together at just the right time to make this a reality for the counties dispatchers, responders and citizens who in the end we all serve. This system will both address the issues of the past and put in place the emergency communication infrastructure to take us all well into the future. This system will make all responders safer through better communications between themselves and dispatch while helping them respond to the citizens in need quicker and with the resources they need to address the situation at hand assuring a better outcome for all involved. This current process has been a long one covering over 24 months and countless hours of work by county government employees, elected officials and responders from various agencies across the county and many others it appears we are in the home stretch.
While this will require a considerable capital investment by the county, it will position us all for many years of vastly improved communications, safety and service to the citizens of the county. Even though this system is directed at the emergency response side of county communications, parts of the system, such as the towers, will play a vital role in developing a much more robust broadband network across the county as well to again better serve all citizens of the county. Having been closely involved in this process and its many meetings, I can tell you all you were well served by your elected officials, employees and volunteers from across the county and I am proud to have been part of this process while working with so many people devoted to make things better in Kosciusko County.
Please support this project as it moves forward with the county commissioners and becomes a reality for everyone in the county so we all may better serve you in times of need.
