County Commissioners this morning voted to finish making the speed limit on Old 30 uniform. Commissioners set a speed limit of 35 mph for Old 30 between Leiter Drive and North Riverwood Ranch Road, which now makes the stretch of Old 30 between Warsaw city limits and Riverwood Ranch one speed. Old 30 had piecemeal speed limits previously, ranging from 30 to 45 mph. The speed limit change came at the recommendation of County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden. County Administrator Ron Robinson also reported on the Americans with Disabilities Act transition plan, a federal mandate that he, Tilden and County Auditor Marsha McSherry have been putting together for the past few months. The plan includes requirements such as making sure sidewalk accessibility ramps have the correct degree of grading, he said. He told commissioners there are hundreds of locations throughout the county that will need to be checked, but that many of them are in subdivisions and will be done by developers rather than the county. He said comments and questions on the ADA plan may be submitted to his office by 4:30 p.m. today.
