Bids for the Justice Building expansion construction were opened Thursday by the Kosciusko County Commissioners.
The four bids were accompanied by bid bonds and were: Hagerman Construction Corp., Fort Wayne, base amount of $19.61 million; Weigand Construction Co., Fort Wayne, base amount of $19.35 million; James S. Jackson Co., Bluffton, base amount of $20.48 million; and Gibson Lewis LLC, Mishawaka, base amount of $20.6 million.
Commissioner Eddie Creighton concluded the meeting by telling the bidding companies that the bids will be evaluated and there is more to the decision than just the base bid.
The winning bid will be announced at the 9 a.m. April 25 county commissioners' meeting.
"The bids are relatively close," Creighton said. He said the commissioners appreciated the interest in the project.
