Commissioners OK 2 New Stop Signs

Posted
Drivers need to be very cautious of road construction workers, said Dennis Pletcher, highway supervisor. Road workers need to be cautious themselves, too.

At the Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting Tuesday, Pletcher introduced several ordinances regarding the roadways.

The commissioners approved two three-way stop signs, one at the intersection of CRs 500S and 750E, and the other at EMS C27 and EMS C1. There will be warning signs in advance until people get used to the new stop signs.

The commissioners approved a new speed limit of 35 miles per hour on CR 100N, from Old 30 to the railroad tracks.

The commissioners also approved to place a deaf child sign at CR 875W, north of Old 30, in the Etna Green area.

County Administrator Ron Robinson made a recommendation to send out a memo asking county employees to park in other parking lots and not around the justice building or in the streets. The commissioners approved.

County Attorney Mike Miner was approved to identify a building that was built on Gatke property at Grace College. Someone was needed that represented the county to identify the new building.

Taylor Law Office Attorney Patti Taylor appeared before the commissioners for help with a client who is preparing to build a garage on a part of Brook Street and an alley, in Winona Lake, that is not vacated.

Currently, her client uses the half of Brook Street and the alley that is not a public way, as a driveway. He has builders and materials lined up to build a garage, but there is a technicality in the paperwork. Originally, all of Brook Street and the alley were going to be made public ways.

As of Tuesday, the commissioners said they could not do much about the issue, but will look into it.

County Auditor Sue Ann Mitchell announced all non-profit organizations will be at the next meeting on June 12.

Commissioners are Brad Jackson, Ron Truex and Bob Conley.
