Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine Tuesday presented the county commissioners a copy of the ordinance regarding false burglary alarms.
Rovenstine and county attorney Mike Miner "nailed it down," Rovenstine said, since the commissioners approved for them to tackle it at the last commissioners' meeting. Rovenstine said he hoped the commissioners would vote on it at their next meeting.
The city of Warsaw is interested in the ordinance, he said, as was a local business that had some concerns about how the ordinance would affect their business.
In the first year of the ordinance, Rovenstine said, they believe a $25 charge for the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department to respond to a false alarm is appropriate. Next year, the county could review the fee and revise it if necessary.
County commissioner Ron Truex said he spoke with that local business owner, who had concerns, and that business owner is now impressed and satisfied that it would not cause any problems for his business.
For the Kosciusko County Highway Department, bids for road salt were opened.
L&D Anderson Morton Salt bid $36.43 per ton, Cargill De-Icing Technology bid $38.88 per ton and North American Salt bid $40.93. Kosciusko County Highway Superintendent and Engineer Rob Ladson will review the bids and make a recommendation to the commissioners later.
