Kosciusko County Commissioners approved three appointments to the Lakeland Regional Sewer District board this morning. Commissioners appointed Greg Mitchell, Bob Marcuccilli and Brad Jackson to the seven-member board. They replace former board President Dave Doctor, who resigned; Bob Weaver, who can no longer vote under new state statute on residency; and Ron Truex, who has not attended recent board meetings. Having full membership gives the board some breathing room, since board member Bob Sanders noted they have had to cancel a few meetings in the past year due to lack of a quorum. They also approved the appointment of Chris Merrill to the Warsaw Community Public Library board to replace Ruth Jones, whose last term expired. Commissioners also approved three requests from County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden: to temporarily lower the speed limit on West Lake Street to 30 mph for road construction near the roundabout; to sign an unofficial detour for Ind. 19 closure; and to purchase a new crane for a county truck at a cost of $11,725. Ind. 19 will be closed at the Tippecanoe River bridge for deck replacement starting July 1. Signing the unofficial detour allows the county to be reimbursed by the Indiana Department of Transportation for any road repair costs they incur. The unofficial detour uses a number of county roads to the east and crosses Tippecanoe River via West CR 125N, rejoining Ind. 19 near Etna Green. The official detour from the INDOT uses Ind. 10, 331 and 25 to the west and rejoins at Mentone, Tilden said. And commissioners approved a declaration to reimburse county funds spent on road improvements surrounding the Trupointe site near Milford with expected money from the Tax Increment Finance district in the area.
